Cando Connection Fund Established at Impact Foundation
Proceeds from the golf tournament and any charitable gifts received through the GiveBack initiative will be used to fund the Cando Connection Fund at Impact Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2004 to serve North Dakota and western Minnesota. The Foundation’s mission is to lead innovative initiatives to increase and improve the impact of charitable giving. Impact Foundation commissioned The Boston College Center on Wealth and Philanthropy to conduct a study of the coming wealth transfer in North Dakota during 2001-2055. Notable statistics revealed:
-
North Dakota will transfer $103.7 billion to family and other heirs
-
Charitable giving, both lifetime gifts and bequests, is estimated at $67.2 bllion
-
Estate fees (debt, burial costs, and legal/probate costs) will amount to $7.2 billion
-
Loss of capital to North Dakota due to estate taxes is estimated at an alarming $55.3 billion
Given this projected transfer of wealth and the tremendous charitable investment potential, nonprofits must prepare themselves to become superior performers capable of maximizing donors’ investments in their communities. When nonprofits operate more effectively, our communities are much better served. The Cando Connection Fund goal is to raise over $1 million in the next 7 years to benefit the Cando area. Impact Foundation has waived its fund management fees for the first year. In subsequent years, the fund management fees will be less than 1%.
