City of Cando / Cando Community Library
Replacement of a Public Terminal
$1,000.00

This grant will replace one public terminal (computer) at the Cando Community Library.  The public terminal will be available to the community, as well as anyone visiting or passing through the city.

Cando Area Youth Golf Tournament
$400.00
($200.00 designated to the City of Cando / Cando Golf Club by the 2008 Cando Connection Golf Tournament Oldest Golfer which was Gerry Holien.)  Additional $200.00 awarded by Impact-Cando Connection Fund Advisory Board.

This grant will provide funding for an annual tournament held to promote golf etiquette and
the enjoyment of golf as a life-long sport among Cando area youth ages five to eighteen.

City of Cando / Cando Hockey Arena
for the Cando Hockey Boosters Youth Hockey Program
$700.00
($200.00 designated to the City of Cando / Cando Hockey Arena by the 2008 Cando Connection Golf Tournament Golfer Traveling the Furthest Distance which was Kip Haugen, and First Place Gross Division Team of Jerry Gores, Pat Gores, Patrick Gores, Max Erdle, and Sam Demarais.)

This grant will provide funding for the management of the Cando Youth Hockey Program, including furnishing all equipment, except skates and sticks, which allows underprivileged kids to participate in the program.




Towner County Community Foundation
New Cando Sign
Cando Horizons Sign Committee Project
$500.00

Based on information from Horizons meetings, the citizens of Cando want to beautify the intersection of Highways 281 and 17 with a new Cando sign which would provide an attractive monument for Cando that would be seen by local citizens and visitors to the community and would be very low maintenance into the future.  This grant would help provide partial funding for the cost of the sign project.

Emergency System Upgrade to a Digital Base Station
$500.00
(Designated to the Towner County Medical Center by the 2008 Cando Connection Golf Tournament First Place Net Division Team of Shannon Dennis, Tom Fritel, Joe Nicholas, and Walter Williams)


This grant will provide partial funding for an upgrade of the communication system with area emergency services, resulting in better response time and communication in emergency situations.
